Day 1, March 24, 2007
Round 01 vs. Odette Rio
She had REBOANT (66) in the early going. I had the two blanks to bingo with MEAtILY (68) and SONTIeS (75) but her power tiles did the damages, SEX (58), JIVY$ (33), CUZ (52) and ROQUET (32). I had AELNSTY in the endgame but her good move of ION (12) blocked my only bingo opening.
L 388-419, Record: 0-1
Round 2, vs. Oca Rivera
Oca already played in London WSC 2005 and finished 23rd over-all. His initial play of QAT gave me a good start to play (A)NTEATER (77) followed by a four timer, WAFFL(E)R (64). My GASAliE(R) (74) gave me a commanding lead til the end.
W 441-299, Record: 1-1
Round 3, vs. Antonio Malonzo
I had RACIStS (72) to start the game. Later he came back with LOADERS (75) and tR(A)MPLED (82) to lead 269-217. I struggled hard hitting RESINAT(E) (77) going into the endgame but his AZO (41) and YEANED (38) sealed the win for him.
L 395-410, Record: 1-2
Round 4, vs. Huub Luyk
My first rack was BEEPVWW and exchanged BEVWW, then Huub played COVED 8d (28). My good draw gave me (D)EPARTEE (86). Two more bingos AvOWERS (76) and SOUMING (76+5) pushed my lead further.
W 535-260, Record: 2-2
Round 5, vs. Teejay de Jesus
Despite my three bingos, HEAVIER (70), S(E)MiNARS (63) and ETESIAN(S) (60), Teejay managed to comeback with CISTRON (80), to lead 323-325. His error of FENE* in the endgame cost him the game.
W 422-373, Record: 3-2
Round 6, vs.Teodoro Martus
After his initial play of GROK$ (18), he got the two blanks successively to play Un(W)ISELY (76) and AUNTIEs (65) and led, 36-159. I was trounced early with another one, TRO(U)NCER (72), 67-261. My (E)ROTIZES (104) and JUNIORS (71) after his HEARTEN (80+5) reduced his lead by 120 points!
L 388-508, Record: 3-3
Round 7, vs. Oca Rivera
Our second meeting. My first rack AEEFGOQ forced me to exchanged six tiles leaving E. Then Oca played HOURA* which was challenged off the board. A good draw gave me LAIRIER h7 (66). He responded with HOAR g9 (26). ??DEINR came in and I chose the defensive parallel bingo, cINDERs i6 (81) and led, 147-26. But Oca still had arsenal left to fight back with VENEERS (75), POZ (40) and JA(N)E 4a (38) exposing the two TWS and even took the lead 340-345 emptying the bag. I had CFLOOPS against his CDENNTU. My out in two moves, CO(Z) n1 (28) left the two TWS open to setup my FLOPS f1 (14) after his DU(C)T 1l (27) won me the game.
W 394-372, Record: 4-3
Round 8, vs. Roger Parchamento
He had DIG(E)sTER (68) and THEINeS (71) against my SAUCIER (70). Very low scoring game for me.

Day 2, March 25, 2007
Round 9, vs. Mario Recedes
A WSC 2003 veteran, Mario had three bingos, KAISERS (73+5), UNsPENT (63) and ABL(U)TION (74). Due to panic time, he failed to spot REFEEDS and played blitz in his last six moves to win. I had only one DRAsTIC (82) bingo.
L 364-423, Record: 4-5
Round 10, vz. Bert Palomo
A retired Brigadier General and the oldest participant at 70+ is still one of our active players in the country, Gen. Palomo had nothing he can do with my scoring game including my three bingos of INTENTS (78), REGLETS (74) and sEIGNIO(R) (79).
W 532-346, Record: 5-5
Round 11, vs. Oca Rivera
A one-sided game for me. Oca had no bingos against two for me, IOdINES (66) and WARIEST (76).
W 442-329, Record: 6-5
Round 12, vs. Odette Rio
Before this round, Odette had a 7-4 win loss record. She laid down TENSION (70) in the early going to seize the lead, 174-189. My SEZ (38) and STRIDER (64) put me back into the driver's seat, 351-281. In the middlegame, she played (RE)DRAPiNG* 15g in the TWS but was challenged off. My rack was a dreadful HHIIIIV virus! With 10 tiles in the bag which includes S and blank, I exchanged all tiles and drew ?BIRSUW. She played just her D, to score with (JOLE)D (21), 358-341 still my lead. There were two bingo openings, the RE- and word to start with letter S. I dumped my W and played W(AB) 4c (8) to open up another bingo lane starting with letter S. She setup her own G in the triple lane, played the R to R(OPES) 12b (7). Then my rack was ?BHIRSU. There were 7 tiles left in the bag. In time trouble, I failed to spot BRUtISH/tROPES a9 or (RE)fURBISH 15g and settled for HUB l10 (23) to lead temporarily, 389-348. She played PALlING/GROPES (94), 389-442 to recover the lead killing two bingo spots. With less than one minute, I held ?IORRST and the only opening left were the one starting with letter S and a difficult niner starting with RE- for a game winning bingo! But did'nt find it. It's now 0-5 in her favor for our last five meetings for this year.
L 418-472, Record: 6-6
Round 13, vs. Oca Rivera
Our fifth meeting for this tourney. I played the first bingo, ORACIES (77) midway of the game. He responded with ROJI (41) but I countered with KIDDY/KI$ (64) making use of his letter I doubling the TLS and the Y hitting the DWS. I was still comfortably ahead after my bingo of TALENTs (64). After his RUE (19), our score was 345-303 and I held CGQSUUV but there were still unseen ?EEEFGINRSWY with six tiles in the bag.
I have my first four options in mind:
SUQ n4 (37) blocking one bingo spot
VUGS a1 (30) blocking two bingo spots but opening the V and U
VUGS i2 (18) low scoring but limited bingo option for him, say -IVE ending
V(A)C 5a (8) keeping SUQ for the next turn and giving him slight chances to bingo next turn.
I chose SUQ (37). And here comes his (T)WEETiNG 4b (74+5)!
L 406-420, Record: 6-7
Round 14, vs. Mario Miranda
I was ahead up to move 8 then Mario hit ELUTION (79) in the TWS to lead 181-206. My back to back bingos of cARBONS (77) and VIOLERs (68) sealed the win for me.
W 436-357, Record: 7-7
Round 15, vs. Oca Rivera
His STIfFER (73) was answered by my READI(N)GS (66). Later, I played EREMITI(C) (95) in the TWS but he responded with POStEEN (82+5).
L 415-439, Record: 7-8
Prior to start of Round 16, Teodoro Martus already had 12 wins after beating Odette Rio at board 1 who had 10 wins. The Modified Gibson Rule was applied. His opponent was picked up in the middle of the current standing.
Round 16, vs. Francis Dizon
Francis had only one bingo, IRONIES (66) against four to me, DEIfIES (68), IO(D)INATE (68), NOvENAS (70) and SALTATO (79).
W 572-358, Record: 8-8 +646
