Format: The tournament begins with a 27-round preliminary (round 1-24 based on Swiss pairing system, the round 25-27 based on King-of-the-Hill pairing system), whose two finalists to play final with special rules: They have to play two games. If one of them win both games, then that player is the winner. But if they tie with a win and a loss each, a third game will be played. The winner, in this case, is the one who scores the most points when the scores from all three games are combined. (Note: Throughout the tournament, the spread capping enforced to a maximum of -/+ 350 points spread in a game. Also the Gibson rule is in effect in case there is a player who has won enough games to guarantee 1st place or a seat in the finals no matter how many games he or she loses thereafter.)

Road to the Finals:
Charnwit Sukhumrattanaporn secured the first final berth as early as round 24 when he beats fellow countryman Panupol Sujjayakorn, 466-389 for his 20-4, +1408 (win-loss-spread) record, and was Gibsonised at the start of round 25 (King-of-the-Hill pairing format). Jason Katz Brown was 18-6, +1408 then followed by five players with 16-8 win-loss record (Pakorn Nemitrmansuk +1255, Ayorinde Saidu +1183, Nigel Richards +1179, Lujeman Owolabi +857 and Helen Gibson +390) with their spreads, respectively.
The fierce battle was between Jason Katz Brown and Pakorn who played the last three rounds and it was all won by Pakorn, 525-385, 459-450 and 424-372, to secure the second final berth, completing his 19-8, +1456 card. It was indeed a heartbreaking loss for Jason who needed at least a win out of the three games in order to reach the finals, but was not meant to be. Nigel hurdled his last three games for a 19-8, +1248 (win-loss-spread) record which include his last round conquest, 439-437 against Siu Hean Cheah, but not enough spreads and settled at 3rd place.
And so, the finals has been staged between Charnwit and Pakorn.
