With
the generous support of the Provincial Gov't of La Union, the Metro La Union
Scrabble Club organized the 1st La Union Scrabble Open on March 5-6,2005 at the
Diego Silang Hall. Forty Two players participated in the two-day,16-round rated
tournament mostly coming from La Union;13 from Metro Manila;6 from Baguio
City;2 from Cebu City;2 from Laguna;and Mario Libiran of Bulacan.
Lorenzo
Bacani of La Union was dominant in the first day of competition scoring a perfect
8 wins. However, Ronald Credo proved to be the best with his 13 victories
losing just once in the 2nd day to Bacani. Bacani settled in a tie for 2nd to
4th places.
Further,
the MLUSC will be holding a one-day rated tournament on March 19. The venue
will be announced later. Prizes will be awarded to the Top 4 players, top 2
Under-1600 and top 2 Junior players (21 y/o and below).Entry fee is Php120.00
inclusive of snacks.
